Obituary

Clara Mae Sider, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 21, 2019. Clara Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is deeply treasured by her family. Clara Mae lived a life rich in family, happiness and faith. Born on September 29, 1929 in rural Stevens County, MN to Florence (Behl) and Wilbert Stambaugh, Clara Mae was one of 12 siblings. Despite growing up during the Great Depression, Clara Mae learned the importance of family and integrity. She went on to have her own family and raised three sons with her husband and the love of her life, Erwin “Erv” Sider, whom she married on November 3, 1956. Life on Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, MN blessed her with a wonderful community and cherished friends. Her work in the Excelsior Elementary School and Honeywell left undeniable positive impressions. She also felt at home in her volunteer work at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior for many years in her retirement. She will be genuinely missed by her grateful family that she survived by: her son Michael and his wife Kazuko Collins, her son Joseph Collins, her son Leo Sider, her grandchildren: Lara Collins Asmus (Nicholas Asmus), Sara (Collins) Lenz (James Lenz), Jacob Collins, Joshua Collins, Jesse Collins and great grandchildren George Lenz and Henry Asmus. Clara Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Sider. Memorial service will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior, MN 55331, with visitation starting at 12:00 PM.

To the family of Clara, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that God promises to end all suffering. Before long, God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things (will) have passed away.”(Rev. 21:1-5). May this promise from God give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathy.
