I worked with Gerry at Paradigm since his first days there. He always said a very kind, happy greeting to me every day for the past years and it brightened my day. I sometimes asked him silly photoshop questions, and he always had some helpful advice. He was a helper. He greatly helped me get through my brother's heart attack 3 years ago. I was rather a wreck about it at work, and he walked me through the whole surgery thing and gave me hope for his recovery. We also talked about what he was doing in bringing awareness to heart disease. He was an inspiration! He sweetly touched my heart and I will never forget him. My deepest condolences to his family and close friends for this great loss.

I've known Gerry since we were little kids since we grew up in the same neighborhood in the Philippines. I'm a few years older than him and he was like a little brother to me and as much as he was a friend.
We are this group of small boys in the neighborhood who would play outside all day. I remember that we would play from morning 'til late at night and will only go home when our moms call us.
We played all sorts of games that kids in the Philippines enjoyed back in the 70's and 80's like hide and seek, basketball, table tennis, chess, "syato", "patintero" and other local games.
I remember him to be that kid who was energetic and always have that smile on his face. He was kind and always ready to lend a hand.
We lost touch when we were around 15-18 years old, probably because we became busy with our studies and then with work.
We only got to reconnect through facebook and were able personally see each other again when he visited California in 2012 and again in 2016 when our group from that neighborhood had a small reunion.
I am so proud of the man he had become and how he dedicated himself in doing something good for others. His facebook page says that he works at "Contributor of Good at Mankind" and I believe that he was.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to his wife Mary and son Kyle and to the entire Yumul family.
Goodbye, Gerry my friend and until we meet again.

Salamat Arnel. Kuya Gerry is a person who liked to make a connection and reconnect with old and new friends. Like my brother/Kuya Gerry, let's advocate a healthy heart lifestyle, share a little to others, whether it be your resources, talent or joy and of course kindness because that's what he is. Again, thank you.

I worked with Gerry for the last 6 months until our project was completed in July. He was very kind and encouraging, and I loved working with him. One time he surprised me with a gift card, an unexpected gesture of kindness. And just a couple weeks ago he was congratulating me on the new addition to my family. ...I’m very sad to know that he is gone but hope to one day see him again. My prayers are for him and especially now for Mary and Kyle. Wherever you go, may God go with you and give you peace.

I grew up with Gerry in the Philippines. We were from a small barangay called Veteran’s Village which was in Project 7, Quezon City. He was one of my childhood friends and I consider him as my best friend. We grew up in the 80s. We enjoyed the same music (pop, punk and new wave). We watched MTV and played video games. He introduced me to Legion of Mary when we were young. He was one of the SKPP boys. We always play street basketball (whether be it under the sun or under the rain), “piko”, “patintero”, “taguan” and “siyato” to name a few. We learned how to ride the bicycle at the same time through another friend’s bike. He was a southpaw and very artistically inclined. We sing our hearts out when singing carols during Christmas season hopping from one house to another and sometimes picking a fight with another group of carolers. Those were the days back then and they were the best. We somehow lost touch at one point in time when we moved to another place, but was able to get in touch back again when Facebook came. I voted for him online in that smart heart campaign and he won. He was younger than me and I was surprised and shocked at the same time when I heard about the news. It was so sudden and I cried after hearing about it. I was saddened. The last time I saw him personally was when his mother died and he went back home then to the Philippines. Gerry, thanks for being a friend, for being part of my life and for touching my life. How I wish we could see each other again when we are older, but, it will never happen for now. My sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to your family and loved ones you left behind. Be strong Ate Baby, Ate Nette, Boy and Leny. Life goes on they say. Our prayers most especially to your wife Mary and son Kyle. May you rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed. 🕯
